Podcasting Help

1. What is a podcast?

Think of a podcast as an audio (primarily) program that has been recorded and deployed in such a way as to be accessed/enjoyed at the listener’s convenience.

2. How do I subscribe to a podcast?

First, you need some kind of “Podcatching” software, like iTunes, FeedReader or Juice. Then, you simply add our RSS feed to your software and it will monitor our show, waiting for a new episode to present itself. When a new episode is available, your software will automatically download the new episode for you to listen to at your earliest convenience.

3. I can’t listen to any of the shows. What should I do?

We’ve tried to make the Acutrack Podcast show as easy to listen to as possible. There are several ways to listen to any show:

  1. Click the “Listen Now” Auto Player found below the show’s description. It’s the BLUE GRAPHIC with the white triangle. You will need to have Macromedia Flash installed (which is free).
  2. Click on “Play in Popup”. This will launch our player in a separate window. (This is a good option if you want to move around the web while listening to the show.)

  3. Click the “AUDIO MP3″ graphic or “Download” link on the first line below the Auto Player. This will likely play the MP3 file within your browser. To download the file to your computer, Right-Click either option and select “Save Target As..”

  4. Click the “STREAMING” graphic or “Download” link next to the “Streaming MP3″ description. This should launch your MP3 player and start playing the show without having to first download the file.

4. What is this RSS link?

The RSS link is what makes a podcast a podcast! Think of the RSS link as the Table of Contents for our show. Your podcatching software uses it to keep track of all the shows we’ve produced. (By the way, any news aggregator or customized home pages like MyYahoo is capable of reading an RSS feed.)
